What is the purchase / booking procedure?

  1. First select the date of travel in the product page 
  2. Click on the  "add to cart" button. 
  3. When ready select the "Cart" menu item.
  4. Follow the check out procedure and confirm order.alt
  5. You will be sent to a PayPal page. PayPal accepts the following types of payments
    • PayPal Account
    • Credit Card
    • Checks (or bank transfers)
  6. As soon as PayPal confirms payment you will receive an email with an update of order status to Confirmed.
    • Note: if you have paid by check or bank transfer, your payment will require few days to clear, and that leaves the order in pending status for 6-8 days.
  7. As soon as your order is confirmed you are immediately emailed your Voucher(s)

The Voucher is your travel ticket. Print it and carry it with you.

Can you help me with the payment procedure?

In order to protect your credit card information, we have chosen not to collect your payment directly. Instead we send you to a secure payment collection service: PayPal.


PayPal allows payments by Paypal Account and by credit card.

Being very secure they want to make sure you are the rightful owner, so they ask for your personal address information. Make sure you enter everything correctly, and check that the data you enter matches the one registered with your card.

If you still have problems with that, PayPal customer service can assist in completing the payment over the phone.

Am I going to receive tickets / vouchers?


After having completed your purchase an email is sent automatically to you with printable Voucher(s). 

The Voucher includes:
  • order information
  • tour schedule and detailed instructions
  • meeting point location and map
  • local contact telephone numbers & addresses
  • a discount coupon for your next purchase
You will also receive a very useful set of printable guides about Civitavecchia and Rome that shows you exactly where everything is, with maps and how to instructions.
The voucher must be printed, as proof of purchase, and must be presented to the service provider in order to redeem your tour, ticket, or package. Please note that each product has a separate voucher, hence there could potentially be multiple vouchers for your booking.

  IMPORTANT:    Although the vouchers are sent automatically at payment time they may not get delivered for a variety of reasons related to your email servers' various security settings of which we have no knowledge nor control. 
If you do not see your travel Vouchers:
  • first check that you have provided us with your correct email address at registration time, because if you did not, we do not have a way to reach you 
  • check that your payment has been completed 
  • check your Email Spam Folder
  • if you still do not see the email with Vouchers, please send us a note at support@smartcruisetours.com with your order number and we will resend them to you. SmartCruiseTours.com (owned and operated by ABLE Worldwide Inc.) cannot be held responsible for any problem that may arise if you do not follow the instructions on your Vouchers carefully.  You must notify SmartCruiseTours.com at least 72 hours before the date of service.


Will I return to the ship on time? 

When you book a qualifying shore excursion with SmartCruiseTours.com, you are guaranteed to make it back at the time indicated in the product description. Note that private shore excursions are scheduled around your needs. 

A bit of background info: cruise line companies do not make their profits on the sale of cruise packages, but on the extras, namely the tour excursions and additional services offered aboard. In return for the higher price on shore excursions they guarantee that they will wait if something happens and the tour is delayed. Our qualified tours are offered in partnership with the same operators used by Cruise Lines at direct prices. These tours have never missed a ship in over 10 years of operation. This is because if there are problems with the roads the driver gets notified and takes alternative routes. And if all roads are blocked, then the cruise line tours are delayed as well and the ship has to wait. But you may ask, what if a bus or car breaks down? This possibility is covered as well, as we have a large fleet of vehicles available, and if one goes out of service it gets quickly replaced.
The On Time Return Guarantee is available only on qualifying purchases. To qualify, the shore excursion must specifically state it is covered by On Time Return Guarantee. A group bus excursion can only be provided at the schedule mentioned in the excursion description. Other services, like Excursions by train, are not guaranteed.
Guarantee applies only to our qualified shore excursions and only when, through no fault or action of your own, you are not returned to the ship in time to board. The Guarantee is void in instances where delay is caused by your own actions and/or you have deviated from the SmartCruiseTours activity or tour.

This transfer by bus provides an economic alternative to people needing a connection between the Port of Civitavecchia and the Airport of Rome or Rome Termini station. Includes ample space for luggage. 

This is a great alternative to train transfers, where you travel comfortably in a luxury air conditioned bus straight to Fiumicino airport of  all the way to Termini Station, without dragging your luggage up and down the stairs at Civitavecchia train station.

NOTE: this bus is not available every day. Please check for availability on the above calendar. It also has a limited schedule (see details below).

Port to Fiumicino Airport (continues to Rome Termini)

TRAVEL TIME: Approximately 50 minutes.

  • Departs from port at 9:15 to 9:30 am.  Please arrive 15 minutes prior to departure time.
  • Airport Arrival  by 10.30am.  IMPORTANT: Good for flights departing at 12.30pm or later.
  • Continues to Rome Termini station: arrival at Termini Station estimated between 11.00-11.30am.
The port of Civitavecchia provides a free shuttle service from the ship's piers to the port exit that runs all day long.  Just take the shuttle and at the drop off point you will meet bus transfer staff. Detailed instructions with maps, and service provider contact information sent to you after purchase.

Fiumicino Airport to Port

TRAVEL TIME: Approximately 50 minutes.

  • Departs from airport at 12:30 pm.  
  • Port Arrival  by 1.30pm.  
Right at the Airport departure area upstairs between T3 and T2. Detailed instructions with maps, and service provider contact information sent to you after purchase.
