ROME TOUR OPTIONS

Help Me Choose

When selecting a van versus minibus and bus you need to consider that using different types of vehicles has some important implications.

Traveling by van (8 people)
guests will be picked up by their driver directly at the ship's pier. Vans have access to all restricted traffic areas inside Rome and will be able to transport guests as close as possible to all sites of interest, resulting in much reduced walking and longer visiting time.

Traveling by minibus and bus
will provide good savings but has some disadvantages.

Guests will not be met directly at the ship's pier. They will have to take a free Port Mobility Shuttle in order to reach the meeting point. Furthermore minibus and buses cannot reach all restricted traffic zones in Rome. Consequently, tours by bus will involve much more walking (3-4 mi, or 5-6 km total).

Visiting the Vatican
It is important to keep in mind that visiting the Vatican Museums will require 1.5 to 2 hours time. Visiting the Museums and the Basilica will require 3 hours. Because of the extended time that needs to be allocated we highly suggest to make sure that all people in the group will either all enter or not enter the Vatican, as this impacts the itinerary considerably.Skip the lines tickets are absolutely necessary, and the service of a professional guide is highly suggested.

Proposed Itinerary

Discover Aix en Provence, elegant town in Provence: the fountains, the famous Cours Mirabeau, the private mansions, the places frequented by the painter Paul Cezanne.

Walk on the Cours Mirabeau lined with 17th and 18th centuries private mansions, where large plane trees offer shade on hot summer days. The old town is packed with shops, architectural and religious sites, bustling squares and refreshing fountains. Take a stroll through one of the numerous markets taking place
everyday in the center of the city. Aix is also the birthplace of the painter Paul Cézanne. Don't miss the opportunity to visit the Cézanne's studio that was built from his own plans and where time seems to stand still (entrance ticket not included €7 per person).

The tour will continue toward Cassis while appreciating the exceptional view of the bay from Cape Canaille.

Cassis is a very ancient fishing port and the harbor is probably the most beautiful part of the village. You will have the possibility to take a 45-minute boat trip to discover 3 Calanques, steep-walled coves with tiny harbors or beaches at the end. Take the time to stroll at the port and appreciate the intimate atmosphere. Free time for lunch (not included) on your own during the day.
Tickets for the Calanque cruise are not included (€13 per person).
