Rome Private Excursion Descriptions

Highlights of Rome shore excursion (see the most famous sites with plenty of time to really enjoy them)

1. Depart pier and drive to Rome in about 1 to 1.5 hours (depending on traffic)
2. Proceed on to the Ancient Area
3. Visit Colosseum, Palatin Hill and Roman Forum Independently
4. Visit Piazza Venezia 
5. Visit Piazza Navona and Pantheon
6. Visit via del Corso (shopping area)
7. Visit Fontana di Trevi 
8. Visit Piazza di Spagna
9. Visit Piazza del Popolo 
10. Visit the Vatican Area St Peter's Square and Basilica (note Basilica entrance is free, but there is likely to be 15-30 min entrance line)
11. Visit Gianicolo 
12.  Return to pier in Civitavecchia - 1  to 1.5 hour (depending on traffic)

Best of Rome with special visit to Vatican Museum and /or Colosseum

This tour is similar to the Highlights of Rome but allocates more time for an interior visit of the Vatican Museum (with Sistine Chaple and St. Peter's Basilica), and/or an independent interior visit of the Colosseum and Roman Forum. The remaining time will be spent visiting the other sites. The rest of the itinerary can be coordinated directly with the driver according to interest and time.

• Vatican Museum, Sisitine Chaple and St. Peter's Basilica (allocate about 2 to 3 hours to visit). Tickets purchased separately.
• Colosseum and Roman Forum (allocate about 2 hours to visit). Tickets purchased separately.

Castelli Romani and Wine Tour (this tour costs €30 more)

• Depart the port of Civitavecchia and arrive at Donnardea Winery and cellar in the Roman Hills
• There you will meet the winemaker, walk by the vineyards, indulge in a guided but informal wine tasting, and taste delicious food products by the winery.
• Visit the Farm and the garden: you will experience a taste of the “good life” as you weave your way through the heart of the 250 acres’ vineyard, enjoy wine tastings with the Owner.
• Wine and food options:
  • Option 1) €30 pp - Guided visit with description and tasting of 3 wines and sampling of local bread with the extra virgin olive oil (bruschetta) produced by the estate owners, fresh tomato and basil, cheeses, local cured cuts, olives and various samples of local products
  • Option 2) €55 pp - Guided visit with description and tasting of 4 wines and sampling of local bread with the extra virgin olive oil (bruschetta) produced by the estate owners, fresh tomato and basil, cheeses, plus lunch with home made dishes such as lasagna, rice stuffed baked tomatoes, local grown garden vegetables, Porchetta ( a local specialty of savory, slow roasted pig), and more
  • €5 per person booking fee is required to reserve the Winery visit with Wine tasting and food options. The difference to be paid in cash at the time of visit (€25 pp for option 1 or €50 pp for option2)
• Your visit will continue to the lakes area for a Visit to the beautiful towns of Nemi and Castel Gandolfo (Pope’s summer residence)
